Shaws 2 Way Bantam Butt Swivel
Swivels relieve the torque that builds up in a line when the line wraps on and off the drum or when a large line is attached to a small line.Torque causes rope to twist tight, ultimately damaging the rope, so swivels are very necessary at preventing damage and potential harm.
Swivels are located either between the mainrope and butt-rigging, tailrope and butt-rigging, or butt hook and buttrigging.
Swivels use plain bearing to ensure they do not over-compensate for line twist.
This particular swivel is two-way, meaning it has two ends from which rigging can be attached.
